Entertaining children with movies can prevent driver-distraction crashes

Irvine, CA – September 07, 2011 – Studies indicate that young children are one of the leading causes of driver-distraction crashes because they require the driver’s attention. Visually, drivers may take their eyes off the road to tend to a child’s need. Manually, they may take their hands off the wheel to pick up a dropped toy, book, bottle, pacifier, etc. Cognitively, they may lose focus when hearing a child scream or cry. In fact, kids can be more distracting than texting and driving. And such features as a built-in Bluetooth to allow hands-free driving and rear-view camera inputs to reduce blind spots when backing out have been added. He recommends that those considering installing a DVD system in their vehicles should do their homework first. Research and have an open conversation with dealers and installers regarding budget and needs. Drivers should also only purchase and have players installed from an authorized dealer and installer to assure product quality and warranty.
